CREW & CO – SUPERYACHT CREW RECRUITMENT CAPTAIN / FISHING EXPERT Vessel: 43ft Freeman Programme: Private / Miami, Florida Keys & Bahamas Salary: Highly Competitive / DOE Schedule: Year-Round, On-Call Position Start Date: ASAP (within the next 6 weeks) Current Location: Miami, Florida, US POSITION OVERVIEW: Crew & Co are seeking a Fishing Captain (fishing expert with Chase Boat Captain experience) to take responsibility for a privately owned 43ft Freeman based at the owner’s residence in Miami. The vessel is used by the owner and his family for day trips, weekend outings and fishing excursions throughout Miami, the Florida Keys, the Bahamas and surrounding cruising areas. The successful candidate must therefore possess excellent local knowledge, including an understanding of suitable fishing grounds, cruising routes, marinas, weather conditions and local regulations. This is not a liveaboard position. Candidates must already be based within a reasonable commuting distance of Miami, have their own accommodation and hold unrestricted legal rights to live and work in the United States. The Captain will be responsible for the safe operation and general oversight of the vessel, including passage planning, navigation, fishing excursions, guest safety, preparation for trips and ensuring the boat remains clean, maintained and ready for use. The ideal candidate will be an experienced boat handler and passionate fisherman who is confident operating with a family and children onboard. They should be personable, discreet and safety-conscious, with the ability to create enjoyable and memorable days on the water while maintaining professional standards at all times. This is a permanent, year-round position requiring flexibility and on-call availability. The majority of trips are expected to take place over weekends, during school holidays and when the family is in residence. The Captain will usually be provided with reasonable advance notice of planned trips. IDEAL CANDIDATE: Strong experience captaining similar-sized private vessels Excellent knowledge of Miami, the Florida Keys, the Bahamas and surrounding waters Extensive recreational or sportfishing experience Knowledge of local fishing grounds, techniques, equipment and regulations Confident boat-handling, navigation and passage-planning ability Comfortable operating the vessel with children and family members onboard Strong understanding of vessel maintenance and trip preparation Safety-conscious, reliable and highly organised Flexible and comfortable with an on-call schedule Professional, personable and discreet Interested in making a long-term commitment REQUIREMENTS: Valid documents (STCW, ENG1 etc) US citizenship, Green Card or unrestricted US working rights Own accommodation within commuting distance of Miami Reliable personal transport Strong references Available to start as soon as possible APPLY: If you would like to be considered for this opportunity, please apply with your most recent CV, supporting references and details of your current location, availability, fishing experience and US working status.
