Ingalls Shipbuilding is seeking First‑Class Electricians who bring precision, expertise, and craftsmanship to every cable, connection, and circuit they install. As a First‑Class Electrician — also known as an Electrical Journeyman — you will lay out, install, and repair shipboard electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, communication circuits, and electronic equipment. Your work powers the systems that keep each vessel mission‑ready. What You Can Earn • Earn up to $38.20 per hour , depending on experience and qualifications • Opportunities for overtime and long‑term career growth What You’ll Do • Lay out, install, and repair marine cables, power systems, lighting, and electronic equipment • Read and interpret electrical blueprints, drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams • Use hand tools, power tools, and electrical test equipment to perform precise, code‑compliant work • Troubleshoot and repair electrical circuits, equipment, and shipboard power systems • Work in shipyard environments that may involve heights, confined spaces, and varying weather conditions • Support production across multiple shifts in a 24/7 industrial environment • Follow Ingalls’ strong electrical safety procedures in every task and workspace Why This Work Matters First‑Class Electricians bring the ship to life. What You Bring • Proven experience in industrial, marine, or large‑scale electrical installation • Ability to read and understand complex electrical drawings and schematics • Skilled use of electrical tools, test devices, and troubleshooting techniques • Strong commitment to safety, craftsmanship, and teamwork • Willingness to work in an active shipyard environment supporting ship construction Must Have Minimum 4 Ç Yrs. experience in the commercial, industrial or marine electrical field High School Diploma or Equivalent Read and interpret marine drawings and/or blueprints utilizing both metric and standard measurements Nice to Have One (1) year shipboard experience (sonar, radar, power, internal communication, navigation, etc.).
