Ingalls Shipbuilding is seeking Electrical Journeyman Candidates who have hands‑on experience with electrical installation or repair — and want to continue advancing into higher‑level electrical craft roles. As an Electrical Journeyman Candidate, you’ll assist in installing and repairing marine cable systems, support the connection of lighting and power equipment, and work with electrical drawings and schematics. Your developing expertise directly supports the systems that bring each ship to life. What You Can Earn • Starting pay of $31.66 per hour • Additional opportunities for overtime, advanced training, and progression into Skilled Electrician positions What You’ll Do • Assist in installing and repairing marine cable systems throughout the ship • Support installation and connection of lighting fixtures, panels, receptacles, and electrical power equipment • Use hand tools, power tools, and electrical measurement devices • Read and follow drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and basic layout instructions • Work in shipboard environments that may include heights, confined spaces, and varying weather conditions • Support production needs across multiple shifts in a 24/7 manufacturing environment • Follow Ingalls’ strong electrical safety standards in all work areas Why This Work Matters Electricians power the ship. What You Bring • Hands‑on experience with electrical installation, repair, or industrial electrical systems • Ability to read and work from electrical drawings or schematics • Skill using common electrical tools and testing equipment • Strong commitment to safety, craftsmanship, and teamwork • Willingness to work in an active industrial environment and continue developing your electrical trade skills Must Have Requires two years of electrical experience installing electrical wiring, equipment installation, and wiring hookup (commercial, industrial or marine) or two years from an accredited college with electrical certificate or degree or a combination of two years of work experience and schooling.
