Fiberglass Patcher - Finish

Summary: The Fiberglass Finish Patcher is responsible for identifying and correcting cosmetic and surface defects on fiberglass hulls, decks, cabins, and other molded components during the yacht manufacturing process. This position performs fiberglass and gelcoat repairs, surface preparation, sanding, blending, and finishing work to ensure completed surfaces meet Viking Yacht Company's appearance and quality standards. Responsibilities: Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Inspect fiberglass and gelcoat surfaces for cracks, chips, voids, scratches, pinholes, air pockets, uneven areas, and other cosmetic or manufacturing defects.
• Repair and patch fiberglass and gelcoat defects on hulls, decks, cabins, and other molded components.
• Prepare damaged or imperfect areas for repair by grinding, sanding, cleaning, and removing defective material as necessary.
• Mix and apply fiberglass materials, resins, fillers, gelcoat, and other repair materials according to established procedures.
• Shape, sand, blend, and finish repaired areas to match surrounding surfaces.
• Perform progressively finer sanding and finishing work to achieve required surface quality.
• Use grinders, sanders, buffers, hand tools, and other power tools safely and effectively.
• Match contours and surface profiles so completed repairs are smooth and visually consistent with surrounding areas.
• Inspect completed repairs for appearance, smoothness, and overall workmanship.
• Identify defects requiring additional repair and communicate significant quality concerns to the leadman or supervisor.
• Protect surrounding finished surfaces and components from damage during repair and finishing operations.
• Maintain tools, materials, and work areas in a clean and organized condition.
• Follow proper procedures for handling fiberglass, resins, gelcoat, solvents, and other materials used in the repair process.
• Follow all company safety procedures and utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Perform additional duties and related production work as assigned.

Requirements: Qualifications

• Previous fiberglass, gelcoat, marine manufacturing, automotive body, paint preparation, composite repair, or related experience preferred.
• Experience sanding, grinding, filling, patching, or performing detailed surface finishing work is preferred.
• Ability to safely operate hand tools, grinders, sanders, buffers, and other power tools.
• Ability to identify surface imperfections and determine when additional finishing work is required.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, and work in various positions throughout the workday.
• Ability to work aboard vessels and in confined or limited-access areas.
• Ability to perform repetitive sanding, grinding, and finishing motions.
• Ability to frequently use hands and arms to operate tools and perform detailed repair work.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to dust, fiberglass particles, fumes, odors, noise, and varying temperatures while utilizing required PPE.

Description: Work Environment
Work is primarily performed in a yacht manufacturing environment on fiberglass components and vessels in various stages of production. The position involves regular use of sanding and grinding equipment and fiberglass and finishing materials. Employees are required to follow established ventilation, material-handling, housekeeping, and PPE requirements.
Work ScheduleStandard Schedule: Monday to Thursday (10 hr. shifts)Overtime: As needed based on production demands
