Position Title: Marine Technician (Mid-Level)


Job Location: Primarily Overseas (75–80%); CONUS periods in Baltimore, MD


Job Type: Full Time, Non-Exempt


Pay Range:  $30.05 - $38.45


Position Description:

 As a Marine Technician, you will ensure the readiness and reliability of unmanned surface vessels and other marine platforms deployed in fleet operations and exercises. Your role will involve direct technical engagement, maintenance, and support during sustained deployments lasting 90–120 days, followed by approximately 30 days in CONUS before the next deployment cycle

You will operate in industrial, austere, and on-water environments—often OCONUS—supporting technical operations, training, integration, and RDTE (Research, Development, Test, & Evaluation) events. While not typically customer-facing, you may at times work directly with customer personnel and stakeholders during field operations or training events. OCONUS travel may include deployment to remote or hazardous overseas locations requiring signed consent to deploy.

List of responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Technical Expertise: Serve as a technical expert for mechanical systems on board unmanned surface vessels and other prototype platforms, ensuring operational efficiency and reliability. 
  • Maintenance & Repairs: Perform service and maintenance on all mechanical systems, addressing issues promptly to maintain on-water test and evaluation readiness. 
  • System Troubleshooting: Maintain a systematic approach to identifying symptoms, determining exact issues, and moving to correct these issues in a way that is able to be documented and repeated. 
  • Documentation Support: Provide input to service and maintenance documentation following standard BlackSea processes, contributing to accurate and effective materials for customer use. 
  • Required Travel: Up to 80% for training, integration, and operational support events. 


Requirements

Required Skills/Education


3+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical systems maintenance, repair, or field support. 

High school diploma or equivalent is required. 

Proficiency in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex mechanical systems. 

Familiarity with technical documentation and reporting standards for government or military applications. 

Ability to perform in high-tempo environments, balancing multiple priorities efficiently. 

Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with customers and technical teams.

A hands-on, problem-solving approach with the ability to adapt to dynamic operational environments.  

Must Be a US Citizen and able to Obtain and Maintain a Secret Clearance 

Note: Position includes a six-month probationary period requiring at least one full deployment.


Desired Skills/Education (but not required to be considered for hire)


These are your “nice to haves” but not required…

Boater’s Safety (COLREGS) certificate and/ or Captain’s license

Relevant technical certifications or vocational training in mechanical and marine systems 

Experience with maritime or autonomous platforms is a strong plus. 

Familiarity with following very structured operational and safety processes and commercial or gov’t fleet maintenance. 

Experience working in industrial or austere environments, including Naval facilities or maritime settings.
