OVERVIEW
Military Sealift Command (MSC) employs civilian mariners (CIVMARs) who crew U.S. Navy support ships worldwide. Entry-level roles report to Norfolk, VA and San Diego, CA hiring/training, then deploy fleet-wide. A Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) / TWIC and ability to deploy are required.
We are hiring a Ordinary Seaman (Entry-Level Deck CIVMAR) in San Diego, CA. In this role you will assist with deck or engine operations and maintenance, and contribute to our team’s quality and success.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Assist with deck or engine operations and maintenance
- Handle lines, cleaning, and general vessel work
- Learn shipboard systems and safety
- Support the crew at sea

WHAT YOU WILL BRING
- Entry-level; MMC obtainable for the right candidate
- TWIC and willingness to deploy
- Mechanical aptitude and strong work ethic
- Able to work offshore rotations

COMPENSATION
Estimated market range $40,000 to $62,000/year (about $19 to $30/hour), depending on experience.
