Multi Discipline Marine Technician
We’re recruiting three experienced Multi Discipline Marine Technicians for a professional marine services operation in the British Virgin Islands.
The ideal candidate has strong experience across all three disciplines:
⚙️ Mechanical
⚡ Electrical
❄️ HVAC & Refrigeration
Strong candidates with professional experience in at least two of these three disciplines will also be considered.
Please note: single discipline technicians will not be considered for this position.
About the Role
Multi Discipline Marine Technician
You’ll join a professional marine technical team working on a diverse range of sailing and power vessels in the British Virgin Islands.
The role involves diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, performing maintenance and helping keep vessels operating reliably across multiple technical systems.
The ideal candidate is practical, experienced and comfortable moving between different disciplines depending on what the job requires.
What You’ll Be Working With
Multi Discipline Marine Technician
⚙️ MechanicalDepending on your experience, this may include:
- Marine diesel engines and propulsion systems
- Cooling systems and heat exchangers
- Fuel systems
- Transmissions, shafts and propellers
- Exhaust systems
- Generators
- Bow thrusters and auxiliary mechanical systems
- Fault finding, servicing and repairs
Including:
- 12V and 24V DC systems
- AC shore power systems
- Battery banks and charging systems
- Inverters and chargers
- Alternators and engine charging circuits
- Distribution panels and vessel wiring
- Bilge pumps and deck equipment
- Electrical fault finding and diagnostics
- Safe marine wiring practices
❄️ HVAC & Refrigeration
Including:
- Marine air conditioning systems
- Refrigeration systems
- Refrigerant handling and servicing
- Raw water cooling systems
- Compressors, evaporators and condensers
- System commissioning and maintenance
- Fault diagnosis and troubleshooting
Watermaker experience is a bonus.
Who are you?
Multi Discipline Marine Technician
✔ Minimum 5 years of hands on professional marine technical experience, with strong diagnostic and repair skills.
✔ Strong professional competency in at least two of the following disciplines: Mechanical, Electrical, and HVAC & Refrigeration. Experience across all three is highly preferred.
✔ Relevant professional certifications and experience working on sailing and/or power vessels, ideally in a marina, boatyard, charter fleet, or similar professional environment.
✔ A professional, practical team player with strong English communication skills, a full driving licence, and the ability to work independently when required.
Preferred Experience
Bonus points for: ABYC or internationally recognised certifications, OEM experience, catamaran experience, 8+ years of experience, offshore or bluewater experience, and watermaker service experience.

✔ Current professional certification is required.
ABYC certification is the benchmark, but equivalent internationally recognised qualifications will also be considered.
✔ Mechanical
- Required: ABYC Marine Engines & Fuel Systems — or equivalent international standard
- Preferred: OEM manufacturer certification (Yanmar, Volvo Penta, Cummins, Beta, Perkins)
- Advantage: ABYC Master Technician designation (3+ certifications)
✔ Electrical
- Required: ABYC Marine Electrical Certification — or equivalent international standard
- Preferred: ABYC Advanced Marine Electrical Certification
- Advantage: ABYC Master Technician designation
✔ HVAC & Refrigeration:
- Required: Recognised refrigerant handling / EPA 608 certification — or equivalent international standard
- Required: ABYC A/C & Refrigeration Certification (or equivalent) — or demonstrable equivalent experience
- Preferred: ABYC Marine Systems Certification (covers climate as a subsystem)
