Position Summary
Trident Maritime Systems is seeking dependable and safety-focused General Laborers to support daily production, maintenance, and shipyard operations. The General Laborer performs a variety of physical and support duties, including material handling, jobsite cleanup, equipment movement, assisting skilled trades, and preparing work areas. This position requires the ability to work safely and efficiently in an industrial and maritime environment while following company procedures and supervisor instructions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist welders, fitters, electricians, mechanics, and other skilled trades as needed.
- Load, unload, move, and organize materials, equipment, tools, and supplies.
- Maintain clean and safe work areas by removing debris, scrap material, and other hazards.
- Set up and break down work areas, equipment, tools, and materials.
- Perform basic material preparation, including cleaning, grinding, sanding, and surface preparation when assigned.
- Use basic hand and power tools in accordance with company safety requirements.
- Assist with lifting, positioning, and securing materials and equipment.
- Follow instructions, work orders, drawings, and established work procedures.
- Properly use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Follow all OSHA, company, shipyard, and customer safety requirements.
- Immediately report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, injuries, or workplace concerns to supervision.
- Maintain reliable attendance and report to assigned work areas on time.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or management.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous shipyard, construction, manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to safely operate basic hand and power tools after appropriate training.
- Must demonstrate dependable attendance and a strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Must meet applicable company and customer requirements for access to assigned facilities or worksites.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach throughout the workday.
- Lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance or mechanical lifting equipment used when appropriate.
- Work in confined or restricted spaces when properly trained and authorized.
- Work on ladders, platforms, scaffolding, and aboard vessels when required.
- Work in indoor and outdoor environments that may include heat, cold, noise, dust, fumes, and changing weather conditions.
- Wear required PPE, including safety glasses, hard hat, hearing protection, gloves, safety-toe footwear, and job-specific protective equipment.

Work Environment
Work may be performed in shipyards, manufacturing facilities, warehouses, aboard vessels, and other industrial environments. Employees may be exposed to elevated noise levels, moving equipment, varying temperatures, confined spaces, and other conditions associated with maritime and industrial operations.
