The Foreman Technician (Electrician) leads and coordinates the work of a crew consisting of Technicians and Yard Hands. The Foreman Technician (Electrician) position works effectively with a Service Manager to deliver maintenance services assigned. This position is also a working position, utilizing their skillset to conduct task where appropriate such as inspecting, maintaining, and repairing boats of all kinds. Using diagnostic equipment, test, repair and/or install vessels’ mechanical, electrical, and water systems. Responsibilities and requirements may include but are not limited to the items listed below. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain and repair facilities marina shore power and buildings electrical services (30 amp, 50 amp, 100 amp and 100 amp 3 phase power)
• Coordinate directly with yacht engineers to safely configure shore power, diagnose phase rotation issues and trouble shoot power-tripping incidents
• Utilize diagnostic equipment to test and repair electrical systems
• Troubleshoot, test, repair, replace, remove and install vessel systems and components
• Conduct thorough assessment prior to starting a job including; acknowledging the budgeted time and time frame for completion, repairing the system and the element requiring service, sourcing parts if required
• Overall knowledge of marine systems including electrical, plumbing & water systems
• Assign parts and purchases to the appropriate work orders
• Must possess own tools
• Availability to work overtime in order to meet deadlines
• Manage Electrical Team
• Other duties as assigned by Manager

 

Safety and Environmental Responsibilities

• Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training.
• Wear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work area. 
• Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately. 

 

Technical and Physical Requirements

• Masters licenses or equivalent
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• 5 years’ experience preferred
• ABYC and/or manufacturer certifications preferred
• Ability to ascend and descend a ladder
• Must carry own tools
• Ability to work in confined spaces
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Basic boat handling skills
• Experience with both gas and diesel engines
• Knowledge of recreational marine systems such as electronics, electrical, marine heads, plumbing, steering, stabilizers and hydraulics as well as generators
• Available to work overtime when required to meet deadlines
• And any skills considered standard that a Foreman Technician (Electrician) should possess
