Key Responsibilities:
Provide managerial leadership and support to Captains and Chief Engineers assigned to the vessels under responsibility.
Ensure safety remains the highest priority across all vessel operations and activities.
Build effective teams by ensuring suitably qualified, competent, and skilled personnel are assigned to all onboard positions.
Strengthen ship-to-shore collaboration and drive engagement among direct reports, officers, and crew.
Manage all technical and operational matters relating to assigned vessels.
Ensure effective planning and execution of planned and unplanned maintenance, repairs, and modifications to vessel hulls, machinery, and associated systems within approved budgets.
Plan and coordinate inspections, surveys, and dry-docking activities.
Ensure all vessel certification, class surveys, flag requirements, and statutory and international regulatory requirements remain valid and up to date.
Monitor vessel performance and initiate appropriate corrective and preventive actions when required.
Oversee budgets and expenditure related to maintenance, repairs, stores, and dry-docking activities.
Identify and recommend opportunities for innovation, cost savings, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Monitor the quality and performance of shipyards, workshops, contractors, and suppliers to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, company requirements, and customer expectations.
Conduct and support technical, operational, and vetting inspections and ensure timely closure of identified deficiencies.
Provide technical and operational feedback to support improvements in future newbuilding projects, particularly in the areas of safety, reliability, efficiency, and maintainability.
Contribute actively to the company’s decarbonization agenda by identifying opportunities to improve vessel energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
Prepare and submit accurate daily, weekly, and monthly reports to management covering vessel performance, maintenance, safety, operational matters, and costs.
Experience & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, Naval Architecture, or a related maritime discipline.
Minimum 8–10 years of relevant experience in the maritime/shipping industry, preferably with experience in vessel technical and/or fleet management.
Previous sea-going experience as a Chief Engineer, Second Engineer, would be highly desirable.
Proven experience managing vessels from a technical and operational perspective, including maintenance, repairs, dry-docking, inspections, and statutory/class requirements.
Experience conducting or coordinating technical inspections, vetting inspections, audits, surveys, and dry-docking projects.
Demonstrated experience in leading and developing multicultural, cross-functional teams and working effectively with shipboard and shore-based personnel.
