Description:
Derecktor Shipyards is seeking an experienced Welder/Fabricator to join our team. This position is responsible for the layout, fabrication, fitting, and welding of structural components and assemblies for vessel repair, refit, and new construction projects. The ideal candidate has extensive aluminum and steel welding experience in a shipyard environment and is committed to producing high-quality workmanship while maintaining the highest safety standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
These shall include, but not necessarily be limited to the following:
- Perform layout, fitting, fabrication, and welding of structural components and assemblies.
- Fabricate, repair, and install aluminum and steel structures, hull plating, foundations, brackets, supports, and other vessel components.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, weld symbols, and fabrication specifications.
- Select appropriate materials, equipment, and welding techniques to complete assigned work.
- Measure, cut, grind, bevel, and prepare materials for fabrication and welding.
- Perform welding to International Class Standards in the following positions:
- 3G (Plate)
- 4G (Plate)
- 6G (Pipe)
- Demonstrate proficiency in the following welding processes:
- SMAW – Steel
- FCAW – Steel
- GMAW – Aluminum and Steel
- GTAW – Aluminum and Steel
- Repair vessel hull plating, structural members, and fabricated components.
- Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards and project specifications.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and shipyard procedures.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors and other trades to complete projects safely and efficiently.
