CREW & CO – SUPERYACHT CREW RECRUITMENT DECKHAND / CARPENTER Yacht: 70m+ Expedition M/Y Programme: Private Contract: Permanent Rotation: 3:1 Salary: TBC Start Date: Approximately 3–4 weeks Joining Location: South East Asia SUMMARY Crew & Co is looking for an experienced Deckhand/Carpenter to join a prestigious 70m+ private expedition yacht on a permanent, 3:1 rotational contract. Joining the yacht in Indonesia, you will become part of an established deck team operating across an incredible world-cruising itinerary. The programme is expected to travel through destinations including around South East Asia, the South Pacific and beyond. This is a hands-on position requiring someone with strong professional carpentry experience who can confidently support carpentry, maintenance and repair projects onboard while remaining fully involved in the wider deck department. The successful candidate should already have solid professional yachting experience and be comfortable with general deck maintenance, detailing, anchoring, mooring, tender and watersports operations, and guest-facing duties. You must be equally willing to use your carpentry skills where required and support the team with day-to-day deck operations. A recognised carpentry or joinery qualification would be highly advantageous, although candidates with extensive practical experience will also be considered. Applicants should ideally be able to provide a portfolio demonstrating the quality and variety of their previous work. Additional diving qualifications or experience would be beneficial due to the nature of the programme, but these are not essential. The team is looking for someone who genuinely enjoys being part of a close-knit and collaborative crew. You must be well-presented, reliable, positive and trustworthy, with a strong work ethic and a genuine desire to commit to the programme long term. RESPONSIBILITIES: Completing carpentry, joinery, maintenance and repair projects onboard Supporting the deck team with daily operations and planned maintenance Assessing carpentry requirements and completing work safely and efficiently Maintaining, repairing and finishing interior and exterior wooden surfaces Assisting with varnishing, sanding, painting and general surface preparation Using and maintaining carpentry tools, machinery and materials correctly Maintaining consistently high standards of cleanliness and detailing Assisting with anchoring, mooring and line-handling operations Launching, recovering and maintaining tenders and watersports equipment Supporting tender-driving and guest activities where appropriately qualified Completing assigned work safely, efficiently and to a consistently high standard Supporting guest trips with professionalism, discretion and a positive attitude Integrating positively into the established deck team and wider crew THE IDEAL CANDIDATE: Previous professional experience as a Deckhand/Carpenter onboard larger yachts Strong professional carpentry or joinery experience A recognised carpentry or joinery qualification is highly advantageous Portfolio of previous carpentry work preferred Confident using a broad range of carpentry tools, machinery and materials Experience with repairs, fabrication, finishing, varnishing and general maintenance Strong general deck and maintenance skills Confident with anchoring, mooring and line handling Tender-driving and watersports experience preferred REQUIEMENTS: All valid documents (STCW, ENG1 etc – valid for a minimum of 3 months) Yachtmaster or higher-level deck qualifications advantageous Valid passport B1B2 visa (ideally) Available to join within approximately 3–4 weeks Willing to complete all required forms, reference checks and background screening APPLY: If you would like to be considered, please apply with your most recent CV, carpentry portfolio and details of your current location, availability, qualifications and relevant visas.
