Click here to learn more about us! About the Role At Matson Logistics, successful transportation solutions begin with strong carrier relationships and exceptional service execution. As a Carrier Sales Representative , you'll play a critical role in sourcing transportation capacity, negotiating competitive rates, and coordinating over-the-road shipments that meet customer expectations while maximizing operational efficiency. Working closely with carriers, operations teams, and customers, you'll help ensure freight moves safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively across our network. What you’ll do: Carrier Sourcing & Relationship Management Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing carriers to ensure reliable service and transportation capacity. Build knowledge of regional truck capacity and market conditions to identify transportation solutions that meet customer requirements. Negotiate competitive rates while balancing customer needs, carrier partnerships, and business objectives. Utilize internal and external tools to evaluate carriers, support procurement decisions, and manage daily operational activities. Load Coverage & Shipment Execution Identify available loads, secure carrier capacity, and coordinate the successful execution of over-the-road shipments. Manage load bookings and communicate service expectations to carriers to ensure successful delivery performance. Collaborate with colleagues regarding capacity, market conditions, pricing, and load coverage strategies. Manage shipment exceptions, delays, and service challenges while providing timely updates to carriers, internal teams, and customers. Resolve distressed load situations with minimal supervision and a focus on customer satisfaction. Financial & Operational Support Negotiate and coordinate approvals for accessorial services to support accurate customer billing and carrier payment. Review and authorize accessorial charges, invoice discrepancies, and loss claims. Maintain accurate transportation and carrier information within Matson's transportation management system (TMS). Investigate and resolve carrier billing discrepancies to support accurate financial processing and operational performance. Perform additional duties and responsibilities as required to support customer requirements and company goals. You have these skills: Ability to negotiate effectively and build strong carrier partnerships. Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and manage seasonally heavy workloads. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Collaborative approach and commitment to teamwork. And these qualifications: High school diploma or GED required. Strong computer proficiency, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications or comparable business software. Strong communication and relationship-building skills, including professional phone and customer interaction skills. Excellent decision-making, prioritization, and multitasking abilities. Ability to adapt to changing customer requirements and market conditions. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage transaction data accurately within business systems. Commitment to delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining professional standards. Extra credit if you have: Bachelor's degree in Transportation, Business, or a related field strongly preferred. One or more years of logistics experience within a non-asset-based 3PL environment preferred. The salary offered will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
